Minecraft Weekend Design Lab

Course Description What makes a stadium more than just a building? The greatest stadiums in the world are not simply structures for sport, they are the heart of a community. They host football finals and orchestras, shelter people during emergencies, and become symbols of civic pride. In this 6 week course, students become architects, designing and constructing an original stadium and its surrounding community from the ground up.

Inventor's Weekend Workshop

Every student has that idea. The gadget, the fix, the "thing that should exist." Most of them stay sketches in a notebook. Introducing Inventors Workshop — this two hour weekend workshop is where your student's ideas stop staying on paper and start becoming real, physical, in-their-hands objects. Using the same tools professional makers and engineers use every day: 3D printers, vinyl cutters, and real prototyping materials. Creating dreams through innovative design processes, that's a different kind of confidence, the kind that comes from solving a real problem, not following a set of instructions someone else wrote.

Film And Folklore

This course seeks to allow students an opportunity to combine both a historical and literary knowledge of folklore (particularly Japanese folklore) with practical filmmaking skills, including acting, editing and overall construction. In so doing, students will be given an exciting and engaging course which allows their creativity to flow, whilst also giving them an insight into the ways in which folklore shapes the world around us. It shall begin with an exploration of a few core pieces of folklore from around Japan: the spooky history of ghosts; the beguiling tales of the fox spirits; and the great and terrible oni. With these, particular stories will be explored, and students will be invited to consider particular stories and creatures.

Frankenstein's Future Lab

Step into the strange and thrilling world of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to explore one of the biggest questions of all: just because we can create something, does that mean we should? On this course, students will explore the science and big ideas of the Romantic Age, then dream up an invention of their own. Who might it help? What could go wrong? And who should take responsibility? Through storytelling, ethical dilemmas and creative challenges, students will explore why the questions at the heart of the world’s first science fiction novel feel more urgent than ever in a time of AI and fast-moving tech.
