Today there are no shortage of games, but what makes a game good? And further, how do we make good games? In this 6 week course, we will explore video game making in the context of a retro-style platform that will allow us to focus on the hallmarks of good games-intuitive gameplay, visual and audible appeal, appropriately challenging. We will also explore motivations for making games: story telling, artistic expression, informational. We will bring all these pieces together in a game of our own design. As a class, we will design a gaming cabinet to house all our games at Cresconova Labs.
